Bureau of Engraving and Printing Director to Unveil New Lucky Money Product

Washington, DC (November 20, 2018) – Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) Director Leonard R. Olijar will unveil a new Lucky Money product, Year of the Pig 2019, in honor of the Chinese Lunar New Year at a press conference on Monday, December 17 at 10:00 a.m., at 14th & C Streets, SW. Journalists interested in attending this press conference must RSVP by 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14. Please arrive at the BEP by 9:15 a.m. to set-up.

The Year of the Pig 2019 features a $1 Federal Reserve note with a serial number beginning with “8888.” Year of the Pig 2019 is the sixth issue in BEP’s second generation of the Lucky Money Lunar Calendar product line.

The product’s first day of sale is Tuesday, December 18 at 12:00 p.m. (ET). The Year of the Pig 2019 and additional currency products may be purchased by telephone, toll free, at 1(800) USA-MINT (872-6468) and through the United States Mint online store @ usmint.gov. BEP products are also available in the Washington, DC and Fort Worth, Texas visitor center gift shops; some BEP products are also available at Mint retail locations.
