Washington, DC (November 6, 2015) –  In celebration of the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is pleased to announce two new additions to its Lucky Money Collection: the Year of the Monkey 2016 and the $2 “8888” Lucky Money Sheet

The monkey is one of 12 zodiac signs associated with the Chinese Lunar Calendar.  The Lucky Money product, Year of the Monkey 2016, is exquisitely designed with decorative Chinese symbolism and is packaged in a symbolic, red folder with embossed, gold foil.  This product features an uncirculated $1 Federal Reserve note with a serial number beginning with “8888.”  The Year of the Monkey 2016 represents good fortune and prosperity, signifying success in the New Year.  This product is sold for $5.95 and only 88,888 will be available for sale.

The $2 “8888” Lucky Money Sheet features an uncirculated Series 2009 $2 8-subject, uncut currency sheet with the serial numbers of all eight notes beginning with “8888.”  Each sheet is displayed in a decorative holder, capturing the significance of numerology and Chinese symbolism, and is protected by an acid-free, clear, polymer sleeve.  This product is sold for $58.88 and only 16,888 will be available for sale.

The first day of sale for both products is Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. (ET).  These products can be purchased by phone at 1(800) 456-3408; by fax at 1(888) 891-7585 [International fax (202) 874-1788]; in the Washington, DC and Fort Worth, Texas Visitor Center Gift Shops; and, through the BEP’s online store, moneyfactorystore.gov.  Bulk pricing is available for both the Year of the Monkey 2016 and the $2 “8888” Lucky Money Sheet.

Household quantity purchase limit restrictions of 250 units for both the Year of the Monkey 2016 and the $2 “8888” Lucky Money Sheet will be imposed for the first week of release, November 18 – 24, 2015.  On November 25, 2015, household purchase restrictions will be waived for both products.
